Why do I need a password?

In order to protect the information you provide on FAFSA4caster, we require that all FAFSA4caster users create their own password when they begin FAFSA4caster.

Having a password also lets you retrieve a saved or submitted FAFSA4caster in case you need to continue working or make any changes.

Because your password secures your data, Federal Student Aid’s Customer Service cannot access your password or give you a new password.

FAFSA4caster Tip:
Once you select a password it cannot be changed and if you forget your password you will have to start a new FAFSA4caster.

FAFSA4caster Tip:
Saving your FAFSA4caster is really easy. Click on the "Save" button located at the bottom of the page before you exit. When you are ready, return to the login page and enter your personal identifiers and your password. We will keep your saved FAFSA4caster for up to 45 days. If you wait more than 45 days to access your FAFSA4caster again, you will have to start a new FAFSA4caster.
